About
Devanae is a recent graduate from the University of Denver (DU) with a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Spanish. Prior to joining OMNI as a Research Fellow, Devanae has experience assisting in conducting research within the Sociology and Criminology department at DU under Dr. Casey Stockstill. While at DU, Devanae was heavily involved in the Excelling Leaders Institute and Black Student Alliance which ignited her passion for diversity and inclusion in education and research. During her time at DU, Devanae also developed a passion for conducting research in hopes of improving the lives and experiences of people of color within institutions. Devanae completed her senior thesis on “Media Coverage of Police Brutality: An Analysis of Newspaper Coverage of the Derek Chauvin Trial” and enjoys engaging in research that centers around improving structural inequities for BIPOC populations. Devanae hopes to also pursue a master’s degree in research, measurement, and evaluation of the inequities in the educational system and how they impact marginalized populations. In her free time, she likes to read, watch reality TV shows, play video games and has recently started to learn how to crochet.
